NFL to Embark on Super Bowl Green Week Environmental Efforts

NFL Green and the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee will work with various community groups and experts from the Bay Foundation and Cabrillo Marine Aquarium on a kelp forest restoration project off Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, as well as a beach cleanup and education. Teams of divers will remove thousands of purple sea urchins that have devastated kelp in the area, and develop “kelp restoration pods” covering an area roughly the size of a football field.
